A Sweet New Beginning

“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.” ~Willy Wonka

If you have not yet had the opportunity to visit our Sales and Design Center in Historic Five Points in Huntsville, then fabulous things await you! For those of you who have been frequent visitors and shoppers, even YOU won't believe your eyes! I am truly happy to say that our transition from Bridge Street Town Centre back to our 'roots' has come full circle. We have RE-invented ourselves having finally gone from 'the Island of Misfit Chairs' to a proverbial Candy Shop with colors and styles to satisfy any taste and home.

The sales floor is full with much, much more to come. Even our Made in America furnishings will appeal to everyone through your eyes AND your wallets. In fact, one of our favorite sectionals, a deep green microsuede that was too yummy for words, was snatched off the floor before I even had time to write about it! Why? It was exquisite AND just $1349. Now if that doesn't whet your appetite, I don't know what will.

Like your favorite Candy Shop of all time, we welcome you to purchase by the piece or open up a bag and just fill it up to your heart's content. Whether you need a perfect little 11” square side table or an entire room refurbished, you can find it here once again! And even if you miss out on something (like the fabulous green sectional), many of our confections can be back in for you in a very short time.

I look forward to serving you soon. Thank you to all our loyal fans and we anticipate the new friends we have not yet met.

Life is short, eat candy. Or better yet, buy furniture...

2010 Huntsville Museum of Art Women's Guil Decorator Showhouse

Richard Cable Interiors was proud to be asked to design the media room in the 2010 Women's Guild of the Huntsville Museum of Art's Decorator Showhouse.

We had a wonderful time creating a vibrant and bright yet warm and cozy space in this incredible Historic Victorian Home. The Media Room is the central gathering space in the more intimate upstairs private family space of the home. The elevator and both the front and back corridors all lead to this large bright room with 12 foot ceilings. 'Bright' being a blessing for a family room and most often a curse in a 'media room'. The Solution? Remote controlled floor to ceiling and wall to wall draperies that are both lined and interlined for room darkening.

We definitely had the most modern, eclectic, and the "Greenest/Environmentally Friendly" design of any room decorated for the home. Contemporary hand tufted wool rugs, A wool sectional with soy based cushions and reforested hardwood frame, and draperies and pillows woven from spun bamboo fabrics and silks designed by
Clodagh for Duralee Fabrics. My drapery workroom, The Pepper Patch, did a wonderful job working with these renewable resource fabrics and installing the complex remote controlled drapery rods.

Just as an example how difficult the life of a Designer can be sometime, the original design called for a brown sectional and a different chair and rug which did not arrive in time for the show. I believe that this was a happy "accident" as the grey wool sectional, brighter rug, and the leaf pattern chair all pulled together at the last minute to help create a more vibrant and exciting room.

A big thank you to
Yoga-Gal for the mention in her Blog and for saying she liked our room the best!
